I decided to sew along with Project Run and Play this season. This is my first
time sewing along; I just couldn't resist joining in on the fun when I saw the
themes for this season, especially this weeks theme "Put me in the
zoo"
For this challenge, the idea is to take some inspiration from
your or your child’s favorite animal and make an outfit inspired by that
animal, but not a costume. I chose a peacock!
I have had my eye on this voile at
Joann's, for a while now and was waiting for an excuse to buy it. This challenge gave me the perfect
excuse! It’s got some peacock colors in
it and the floral design reminds me of peacock feathers.
I paired the voile with a peacock colored sash and some navy knit.
For the dress, I used the bodice from Little Lizard KingsHomegrown Tank pattern that I tested last month. I made the sash a bit wider for a bigger
showy bow in the back and I modified the skirt to be a high-low hemline like a
peacocks feathers handing down behind her.
The voile is soft and drapey so the skirt has really pretty flow when she
walks in it.
Em looks as pretty as a peacock in her new dress!

So so pretty - perfect fabrics too.
