A new edition of One Thimble is releasing on Friday. I had so much fun sewing up the Ranger Shorts and Steam Train Shirt from the least edition, so I was excited when Jen asked me to sew something from this new edition too. And I was even more excited when that something was this sweet little Bow Trim Dress!
The dress is a simple yoke with a gathered skirt. Then it has this really neat bow trim made by pleating a strip of fabric then gathering it into little bows along the neckline.
The dress pattern, which fits sizes 0-3 months to size 8, is designed by Jen of Ainslee Fox. This is the second one of her patterns I have sewn and I have been really impressed with both of them. Her instructions are great and easy to follow and she always teaches me something new, which I love. On this dress the yoke is sewn on different than any pattern I have sewn before, at first I though it was odd but after doing it Jen’s way I feel like I have been sewing yokes backwards my whole life!
The dress closes with buttons all the way down the back, perfect for dressing a toddler!
If you are like me, you may be wondering how that sweet bow trim holds up in the wash. Well don’t worry, I tested it! Ok, actually Em spilled chocolate milk all over her dress before I could get it photographed so I had to wash it…but it washes great!
The main fabric on my dress is from the Lottie Da line by Heather Bailey. I won a few half yard cuts of this line from The Bailey Girls in a giveaway over at Pattern Revolution (woohoo!) I really love the teals and purples in it. I paired it with some white Kona Cotton for the yoke and a purple dot fabric I picked up a while ago at JoAnn’s.
Thanks for stopping by today! Make sure you check out the new edition of One Thimble on Friday, there is some really great stuff in there. I have my eye on a cute women’s dress pattern that they have in this edition!
Such a cute dress! I'd love for you to link this up with this week's Tuesday Sews Giveaway at PiePie Designs: http://www.piepiedesigns.com/2014/05/tuesday-sews-giveaway-may-13.html
